The canonical humanoid races of Legend* appear throughout the books but appear in the most detail in the Dragon Warriors Bestiary or BES .

They are:

• Humans* - Common throughout Legend*, and predominantly the race played as PCs.
• Elves* - Cconsidered rare in Legend*, but included in the races playable by a PC.
• Dwarfs* - Considered quite rare in Legend*, but included in the races playable by a PC.
• Giants (Tom Clare)
  
• Halflings* - Also considered quite rare in Legend*, and not suited for adventuring above 3rd rank.
• Jotun^ - also known as Frost Giants*
  
• Orcs* - Rare in the Lands of Legend*, not suited for adventuring in civilised regions.
  

In theory one could play a Centaur* or Lycanthrope* (i.e. Werewolf) as a PC, and I leave room below for other suggestions of possible playable PC races.
